The Aiyura Aircraft Maintenance School (AAMES) is located in Aiyura valley in PNG's Eastern Highlands Province. It is an Aircraft maintenance  Engineering School.   Aiyura Aircraft Maintenance Engineering School is now a fully registered CAR141 Aviation Training Organisation in Papua New Guinea providing standardized aircraft maintenance engineering training to Papua New Guineans. The School was given their  registration and certification from the PNG Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) on February 09, 2022. It has been the school's long term goal to have the school registered under the Education Department of Papua New Guinea and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Papua New Guinea, and have achieved that on the eve of our ninth year in operation.

As per the PNG Civil Aviation (CAR) Part 66.57- Eligibility Requirements  is required that all aspiring Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) cadets go through a three step Screening Processes

1. Knowledge Training - All AME cadets are to go through at least two years of knowledge training in an approved CAR 141 Aviation Training Organization. Aiyura Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Schools is an approved CAR 141 aviation Training Organization.
2. Licensing Examinations -  All AME cadets are to sit and pass the required licensing examinations specified under the preferred licensing category from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of PNG. The pass mark is 75% . Aiyuar Aircraft Engineering School prepares AME cadets for these licensing exams.
3. Practical - All AME cadets are to do two years hands-on experience on live aircraft under strict supervisions from licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers on the ground before submitting their applications or a basic AME license.

Papua New Guinea has few flight training schools where aspiring students pursue for pilot training in these schools. Mostly the pilot training or aircraft engineering are offered by airlines rather than established commercial companies.  Below is the list of pilot training schools available in Papua New Guinea.

• Air Niugini Cadet Program 

This is a pilot training program conducted by Air Niugini, Papua New Guinea's airline. The airline offers Pilot training scholarships for students from Papua New Guinea to train as Airline Pilots through their Pilot Cadet Programme. This scholarship is offered annually depending on the availability of training berths. 

Air Niugini Pilot Cadet Requirements 

• Applicants must posses:
• A minimum of Grade 12 Education with A or B passes in Physics, Maths A and English
• Is between the 18 — 25 years of age
• A minimum height of 163cm
• Medically free of any illnesses or sickness.
• Applicants must be prepared to undergo an intensive recruitment and selection process.

• MAF Flight Training Center 

​MAF offers pilot training to students in Papua New Guinea. Their training center is based at Mt Hagen international airport in the Western Highlands Province but some training are done in Australia.

• In-country Experience PNG

Requirements to train as Pilot with MAF

• Grade 12 High School certificate with high marks in English, Maths and Physics
• Good physical and mental health
• A suitable level of English Proficiency (a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent rating)
• Availability to attend a 3 day Pre-Flight Training Assessment at MAF in Mareeba (travel and accommodation at own cost
• Positive result from a 3-day assesment at the Training Centre in Mareeba, Australia
• To be considered for any flight training course with MAF, a positive result of the Pre-Flight Training Assessment is required.  Please note that places are limited and the Assessment is by invitation only

The entry requirements for pilot training/flight training in New Zealand varies from school to school but in most cases are similar.  Below is mostly required and you must prepare for it before you apply.

Flight Instructor Training - New Zealand
Flight instructors in New Zealand must have a Category A, B, C, D or E flight instructor rating.

The Category E rating is specifically for conducting agricultural (top dressing, etc.) flying instruction. Category D flight instructor may conduct type ratings for any aircraft for which they hold a type rating. Category C flight instructors cannot send students on their first solo, and must operate under the supervision of a Category A or B flight instructor.
