BI Presidential Scholarship in Norway

4/19/2025

BI Presidential Scholarship in NorwayBI Presidential Scholarship in Norway
Study in Norway! The BI Presidential Scholarship is designed to attract and reward applicants with superior academic records who demonstrate exceptional potential to contribute to their chosen field and BI’s academic community. It is one of BI’s most competitive and selective scholarships, aimed at fostering academic excellence and leadership.
  • Purpose: The scholarship supports outstanding students by covering full tuition fees and providing a stipend for living expenses, enabling them to focus on their studies and professional development.
  • Program Scope: It is available for students admitted to a Master of Science program at BI’s Oslo or Bergen campuses, with the exception of the BI-Luiss Joint Masters in Marketing.
  • Recognition: Recipients are expected to act as “BI Ambassadors,” promoting the school through recruitment efforts, contributing to a positive study environment, and representing BI’s values.
Scholarship Program Details
Award Components:
  • Tuition Coverage: Full tuition fees for up to two years (the duration of the MSc program).
  • Living Stipend: A stipend of NOK 50,000 per semester (approximately NOK 100,000 per year) to cover living expenses, provided the student meets academic progression requirements (30 ECTS per semester).
  • Duration: The scholarship is renewable each year for up to two years, contingent on meeting academic and progression requirements.
  • Exclusivity: BI awards only one scholarship per applicant. If a candidate applies for multiple scholarships, the BI Presidential Scholarship takes precedence if awarded.
  • Non-Transferable: The scholarship is tied to a specific MSc program and campus and cannot be transferred to another program or institution.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the BI Presidential Scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Admission to an MSc Program:
  • Candidates must be admitted to a Master of Science program at BI Norwegian Business School (Oslo or Bergen campus), excluding the BI-Luiss Joint Masters in Marketing.
  • Only candidates seeking their first master’s degree are considered.
Academic Excellence:
  • A minimum overall GPA of ‘A’ on the ECTS scale (or equivalent top-level grade on international grade scales) from the candidate’s bachelor’s degree.
  • For candidates in the 3rd year of BI’s Siviløkonom (Sivøk) program, eligibility requires applying in the spring of their 3rd year with a comparable academic record.
Citizenship:
  • Open to both international and Norwegian candidates.
  • International candidates with a bachelor’s degree completed in Norway are considered residents of Norway for this scholarship.
  • International applicants are also automatically considered for the MSc International Scholarship without a separate application.
  • Program Enrollment:
  • Candidates must be enrolled in a full-time MSc program and meet the academic progression requirements (30 ECTS per semester).
Requirements for Scholarship Recipients
To maintain the BI Presidential Scholarship, recipients must adhere to the following conditions outlined in the Scholarship Agreement:

Academic Performance:
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of ‘B’ on the BI ECTS scale after each academic semester.
  • Achieve full study progression by completing 30 ECTS credits per semester.
Role as BI Ambassadors:
  • Act as spokespeople for BI, assisting with recruitment efforts (e.g., participating in events or campaigns).
  • Promote a positive study environment through active engagement in the BI community.
  • Fulfill responsibilities assigned by BI during the academic year, which may include representing the school at events or contributing to promotional materials.
Enrollment Status:
  • Maintain full-time enrollment in the designated MSc program at the specified campus (Oslo or Bergen).
  • Failure to meet these requirements may result in the loss of the scholarship.
Application Process
  • The application process for the BI Presidential Scholarship is integrated with the MSc program admission process, with specific requirements for scholarship consideration. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Apply for Admission to an MSc Program:
  • Submit a complete application for admission to a Master of Science program at BI Norwegian Business School through the online application portal (available on BI’s website).
  • Required admission documents include:
  • Official academic transcripts from all previous institutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate.
  • GMAT/GRE/CAT scores (if required for the program).
  • Proof of English proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS) for international applicants, if applicable.
  • CV and other program-specific requirements (e.g., motivation letter, references).
  • Candidates must accept the offer of admission to be considered for the scholarship.
Submit Scholarship Application:
  • International and Domestic Applicants (except Sivøk students):
  • Indicate interest in the BI Presidential Scholarship within the online application portal for the MSc program.
  • No separate scholarship application letter is required for international applicants, as they are automatically considered for both the BI Presidential Scholarship and the MSc International Scholarship.
  • Ensure all required admission documents are uploaded by the scholarship deadline.
Sivøk Program Students (3rd Year):
  • Submit a CV and a scholarship application letter to [email protected] with the subject line: BI Presidential Scholarship Application.
  • The letter should highlight academic achievements, leadership qualities, and reasons for seeking the scholarship.
Application Deadline:
  • The deadline for both admission and scholarship applications is March 1 for the upcoming academic year
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Evaluation Process:
Applications are assessed based on:
  • Academic Excellence: Primarily the GPA from the bachelor’s degree (minimum ‘A’ on ECTS scale or equivalent).
  • Other Factors: GMAT/GRE/CAT scores, extracurricular achievements, leadership experience, and special personal achievements.
  • Institutional Priorities: BI may prioritize specific MSc programs, diversity, gender distribution, or partner schools.
  • Grades from international bachelor’s degrees are converted to the ECTS scale for consistency.
