Eligibility
Applicants must:

• Hold citizenship from a Belt and Road partner country (e.g., Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, etc.)
• Meet age and academic requirements:
  • Bachelor’s: under 25, high school graduate
  • Master’s: under 35, bachelor’s degree holder
  • PhD: under 40, master’s degree holder
• Demonstrate Chinese language proficiency (HSK Level III–V depending on program)
• Show strong academic performance and submit recommendation letters

Requirements
Candidates must prepare:

• Academic transcripts and certificates
• Proof of language proficiency (HSK or equivalent)
• Study or research plan (up to 3,000 words for PhD applicants)
• Two recommendation letters
• Medical examination report
• Police clearance certificate
• Undergraduate applicants may also need to sit the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA)

Application Process
Applicants must complete two steps:

1. Submit an application via the China Scholarship Council portal (Type B program).
2. Apply separately through Sun Yat-sen University’s international admissions system.
