Papua New Guinea Tertiary Selections

2021 PNG Tertiary Selection List Updates : The Papua New Guinea Tertiary Selection is a process where all the eligible School Leavers (students who have completed Grade 12) are selected for Tertiary Studies under the TESAS Scholarships Program. ( You can learn more about TESAS Scholarships here) . This process is facilitated by the Department of Higher Education, Science , Research and Technology (DHERST). DHERST produces selection list using online Application Called NOAS - National Online Application System. The Tertiary Selections lists for year 2021 are being finalised by DHESRT.
Who is eligible for Tertiary Selections?
All Grade 12 Students who have sat for the national examinations are eligible for Tertiary Selections. However, not all Grade 12 students are selected for Tertiary Studies. Selections are based on students Examination Results.
According to DHERST, Students with GPA of 2.4 are eligible for Tertiary studies ( see how to calculate GPA) . However, the increase in number of students getting higher GPA makes those students with the cutoff GPA of 2.4 miss out on tertiary selections.
Grade 12 Examination Results
The Grade 12 National Examinations results are provided to the students prior to the National Tertiary Selections. This makes easier for the students to make the right choices in their School Leavers Forms online using the DHERST's NOAS platform. The Grade 12 Examination Results are provided by the Education Department through the Measurement Services Division. (See how to access Grade 12 Examination Results using the MY PNG Exam Results platform). Students view the results prior to making changes to their choices in the NOAS.
Grace Period
The Grace Period is the time given to all the school leavers (Grade 12s) by the DHERST for them to finalize their choices in the NOAS platform. Those students who fail to fill in the school leaver form in the NOAS miss out on tertiary selections. It is therefore all students are urged to fill in their School Leavers form correctly on the online system .

How to Access the Tertiary Selection List

- Selected Students are given notice of offer through their NOAS Account.
- Selected students lists are published online (DHERST and Education Websites)
- Selected Student Name lists appear in Daily Newspapers
