Publication of scholarships for india 

The scholarships are usually published in the official websites of the awarding countries as well as the   India's Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education.  The publications include scholarship rate, age limit, educational qualification , Experience etc. are given. The format of the application is also published in the advertisement. No application form is provided by the India's Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education Advertisements are published at different times for different scholarships / fellowships as per the time notified by the provider country.

Scholarships / fellowships are awarded on merit basis. The selection is done by a selection committee consisting of subject matter experts. Most scholarships are awarded for postgraduate and doctoral studies. Details related to the scholarships are given in the advertisement and they should be read carefully before submitting the application to the Ministry. Applications will not be considered for incomplete and for a subject other than the notified subject. The decision of the selection committee regarding the selection of the candidate will be final. However, the decision regarding award of scholarships ultimately depends on the donor country.

Applications from candidates residing abroad are not considered. Candidates who are studying / doing special studies / training for a period of more than 6 months at the time of scholarship or at their expense, will be eligible to apply provided they remain in India at least 02 years after their return home on the stipulated date.

The candidate should have adequate knowledge of the country for which the scholarship application is being submitted.

How Indian students can apply for international scholarships 

The international scholarships listed above are open to both non employed and employed citizens of India. Thus anyone can lodge and application to study abroad. The following are the processes you as an Indian student should do to apply for any of the scholarships. 

• check the local media, website and familiarize the requirements of the scholarships announced. 
• if you are satisfied and met the requirements, proceed to the application process. 
• Download the application form as specified on the advertisement or stated on the website Ministry. Note that some scholarships, you will be required to apply online and if so, proceed to online application. 
• Submit your application to the India's Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education together with relevant academics documents. Please not that not all scholarships listed above a facilitated by the Ministry and thus you need to send the application to relevant agents.
