 Overview
The Australia Awards are a whole-of-government initiative bringing together scholarships and fellowships administered by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade the Department of Education and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR). The Awards offer the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. Australia’s international development assistance aims to work in partnership with the Government of Papua New Guinea. The partnership contributes to human resource development by aligning the prestigious Australia Awards to Papua New Guinea’s development priorities as outlined in Papua New Guinea’s National 2030 Medium Term Development Plan and Vision 2050. In Papua New Guinea, Australia Awards aim to contribute to the long-term development needs of Papua New Guinea in line with Australia’s aid priorities and bilateral and regional agreements. The Awards provide opportunities for Papua New Guineans to undertake full-time diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions and PNG education institutions.
